Brake Kits

RE: Brake Kits

They seem to have nice looking kits, but how come the 93-95 Marks have a different system then 96-98? is there really any difference?

RE: Brake Kits

There is a slight difference in the rotor thickness I beleive. I have the newer model rotors on mine, although not that brand.

RE: Brake Kits

I called up and asked a few questions. I realy like the black powder coat set for 529. has anyone delt with them? also anyone seen that nickle plating they offer for $49 more? it kinda looks gold but the guy told me they weren't. Do you thik they would warp or will the 2 piston fix the warping?

RE: Brake Kits

Whooooooooooooooo, purdy!!!!

Can we get them without the holes/slots? That should reduce the price, and I'm not sold on either holes or slots anyway.

As far as being worth it, you have to ask yourself 2 questions:

"Do they improve braking over stock?" (a question for the dealer)

and

"Can I afford it anyway?" (a question for you).

If both answers are "yes", then I'd say they're worth it (especially after what the factory Lincoln dealer quoted me for stock calipers and rotors!!!)

RE: Brake Kits

I will be ordering hopefully next week. I spoke with a guy who said they have been around for 30 years and he has worked there 25 years. The rotors are the same as the ones on a 99 Cobra and the calipers are manufactured by PBR. You can get them without the drilled holes or slots. You can also get them powder coated in pretty much any color you like. They will even powder coat the rotor itself if you like for $50 a pair.

I'll give feedback as soon as I get them.

RE: Brake Kits

Any powerdercoating on the rotor will come off the first time you apply the brakes, don't waste your money on that extra.

You'll have to tell us all about them when you get them. I'd love to upgrade the brakes, and at $500 they're much cheaper than some other options i've heard about.

RE: Brake Kits

They look pretty nice but I agree on the size of the caliper. That is the one thing that worries me.The Brembo package uses a larger caliper.
It looks good for the price though.

RE: Brake Kits

The powder coating of the rotors is really for the parts of the rotor that the pad isn't touching. I myself am not getting it done.

RE: Brake Kits

You DO NOT powder coat the surface that the pad touches. That would most likely either kill you or make you crash. Do not ever put anything on the contact patch of the brake pad and rotor.

RE: Brake Kits

yeah... brake pads tend to be very porous. I've ruined sets and made them squeal just because I touched them with dirty hands.... people wonder why their brakes squeal so much!
