I need to change these things again and it hasn't been long or far, I know I drive fast alot but sheesh its not like I race everywhere, or do I  . What should I expect to see in wear time and what are the best to use? Maybe the last ones I used were crap, I don't know. ok so, whats the best to use, within reason? And where can I get it at the most cost effective?

I've been happy with "Duralast Gold" ceramic pads, which were around $45 from Autozone. They bite much better than the semi-metallics that were on it before. And since they give off white dust (and less of it), my wheels stay nice and clean.

I use EBC Greenstuff - ceramic kevlar composite. Best bite of all brake pads, and they can withstand 1200F of heat; in other words, zero brake fade. They can be had for $70 from various vendors. I've tried semi-metallic, organic...everything. Nothing measures up to these.

The only downside is brake dust.

JP, what I can't believe is the pads on this 05 F250. This trip I've been on is up close to 10k miles now (will figure out everything after I get home) and not a SPEC of brake dust on the wheels. I don't know what Ford uses for pads on it, but no complaints from me!! Man, have I been down some long grades!! But I must say that the tow/haul feature really works great too...really saves the pads!

Sorry : Not trying to hi-jack thread, just adding a comment on new Ford brake pads!!!!

Actually, for OEM, my experience is Motorcraft pads are great.

Usually for our truck fleet we find the dealer stocks 1 rotor choice and your pick of 2 styles of pads. The rotors are competively priced to 'premium' rotors available elsewhere and the pads are either the expensive variety or the cheaper version. We get decent life in severe duty with stock rotors and the cheaper pads, but the brake dust is usually quite apparent. Other combinations have been bad experiences, comparatively.

ok so I bought the ceramic brakes today and went to change them and the onld ones were fine, we think the control arm bushings being worn-OFF and the rotors being a little warped are whats making me think they were bad. Ceramics next time but didn't seem right to waste money when the pads were fine.

I have always used the Bendix heavy duty rotors and their Ceramix pads and never had a problem. Make sure you do a proper break in. I worked for Advance so I had lots of options, and cheap is not the way to go with our brakes.
