Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z

Has anyone had any Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z's on their Mark? I read the ratings at Tirerack.com. It seemed like they outclassed all the competition in almost every catagory. I would think a Z rated tire would ride much harder than H but according to Tirerack I am wrong. Need help fast as I just got Octastar wheels and want to get my car out of winter storage. I am putting 225/60/16's back on.I am not looking for a racing tire. I do not want to give up the Lincoln ride that I love.
Thanks,
JEB

RE: Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z

If you dont want to give up the Lincoln Ride, why dont you just get a wider tire? Much better traction, looks loads better, and hugs the ground like no other.
I got 245/50/ZR16, and Love them.

Are you telling me that I should get the Turanza LS-Z in a 245/50/ZR16 and it will ride softer than the 225/60's in the same tire? I thought that would make it ride worse yet since the sidewall will be shorter. Do you have these Turanzas on your car?

RE: Bridgestone Turanza LS-Z

Actually, most wide tires are going to be harder, I have 245/50/ZR16 on mine. Ride harder then stock. If you want you can go with a 55 series if you can find it. But if you really want to preserve the ride badly (which I didn’t really notice much difference anyhow, but I guess that could be just me) then go with a touring 225's. I personally would sacrifice a bit of comfort for handling. The 50 series handles a lot better, but then again harsher. It’s your choice really. No I have Dayton ZR's on mine, and I like them a lot. Not to mention the car looks a lot better, wider tires gives it that nice aggressive impala SS look.

As I said earlier, yes your tires will ride harder at the 50series, but it all comes back to what suits you.

I know nothing about these tires, but when I was first looking for tires, it did seem like the salespeople were pushing "H" rated tires to keep that Lincoln ride. However, that is lower than the stock rating for the car, and it seemed like many LOD members recommended against doing that (although I believe some disagree with that).

I went with W rated Dunlops when I could find a tire store that would actually even talk to me about speed ratings other than H. Good luck. :)

I was looking at the Bridgestone Warranty and it seems that Bridgestone,Firestone and Dayton are pretty much the same tire?? Any comments ?

I don't know for sure about Dayton, bur Bridgestone/Firestone are one and the same. They even have both names on their brochures.

That Lincoln ride that they are talking about was probobly that floating sensation you get when you ride in a Lown car or a cadilack deville concours or some ginormous boat like that. When I run into people like that, I tell them im getting something (non-Mark essential parts) for a Mustang Cobra. People who dont know what they are talking about treat you completly different.
