Can't Believe I Bought a PC

Well, actually I didn't, I'll be an Apple guy forever, but my wife wanted a new lap top for school and home. She thinks she's a PC person since the schools all use Dells. Bought one of those new Dell Lapies with 2 gb memory, 160 gb hard drive, 1.8 processer. Should get the job done. But I'm not familiar with this Vista OS. Any thing to watch out for when installing software or using the apps would be appreciated.

Specs are good but vista is a power whore. Does it come pre-installed on the comp or can you choose xp?

Vista is pretty and has more security features than XP, but is a CPU and RAM hog. It needs 2 gigs of RAM to run well.

Gees Alexander, you make it difficult. I bought a new HP that was supposed to have VISTA in it, but as it was late coming out, I got the free upgrade after sale and I'm still trying to figure out if I want to do it. As I have XP sitting here, I may go ahead and do it and if I don't like it, I can reinstall XP.... just a PITA. I've got the necessary RAM.

Geez, what was I thinking. See I must have a virus just thinking about this PC.

Haha....I had to read that twice, and it tripped me out because I just woke up, lol.

I've ALWAYS been a PC guy, but I build my own. I'm not sure if you can build an Apple...I don't know too much about them.

I just bought a computer for my father. Compaq Dual core 4000+ AMD, 2 gigs of RAM with Vista Home premium,. Vista interface is pretty. I was ale to migrate all the settings from his old computer. I get errors though when trying to put the service packs onto the installation of Office 2000.
