Car rose too high with air ride turned OFF?!

My car seemed to be riding too rough sometimes, but when I checked it was at the right height. Now it does get too high sometimes, so I turned the air ride off. The next day it aired itself up while driving even though the air ride was turned off. What's the deal?

It has new front struts (OEM) and compressor. It doesn't drop overnight or while driving with it turned off.

Could this be the module?

Does the car drop at "high" speed/raise up at low speed? Check to see if one or more level sensor "bars" have disconnected/broken. The compressor should NEVER turn on when switch is off (Do you get the Air ride off message???)

No, the temp didn't do it and yes I get the Air RIde Off message. It hasn't given me a repeat performance and I've left it turned off. It actually has sunk a little in back, though it's not slammed. I figure the rears need to be replaced, but I don't understand why leaking rear bags would make it get too high? I think I turned the ride off after letting it air up while it was running.

I was just hoping for a simple answer as to what needs to be replaced.

After I posted this thread I took the car and went car shopping hoping maybe that would put it on it's best behavior...

GNOMES!
GNOMES!!

They came in.. and turned on your air ride and waited til it aired up.
Then all 60 of them climbed onto your car to make the car put MORE air in the bags.
Then the 61st Gnome {he's the smart one} Turned OFF your air ride and told the other 60 Gnomes to all jump off!

Hence.. your car is raised up higher, and you didn't turn on the air ride switch.

If it wasn't Gnomes, or Temps.. Could it have been associated with Lower Barometeric Pressure?

contrails.. maybe?

I'm sticking with GNOMES!
