Check out what happened to my shock mount

I finally got my replacement mount for my car and i was amazed!! My mount completely disinegrated!! My car rides like a dream now... before it was just horrible, i had no idea it would make so much difference, now it is just smoooth. BTW i think the mount is also partly the reason the swaybar bracket took a dump as well since the mount no longer held the shock and allowed it to freely move in and out of the body of the car.

Whats a thread without pics???
BTw i ordered new brackets and after 1 hour of trying to make it fit i realized that something was wrong, I took off the other side to shoot a comparison. I don't know why they are different??!! But i modified the new bracket to fit by making that slot larger.

RE: Check out what happened to my shock mount

I had a new mount do the same thing after about 6 months. I called max at 5 star and it's under warantee for 1 year so I just paid shipping and got the new mount for free.

RE: Check out what happened to my shock mount

mine seperated the same way, and I had no money to replace it with a new one, however I had replaced almost my entire front end so I had parts. I salvaged a bushing from some part and it was a great fit. So for now I have a financially challenged/engineered part. As soon as I get home I'm gonna replace it. Along with my NEW Steeda U/D pulleys......

Max, when I swap my rear upper shock mounts "Jeremi-style", I'll let you know how it goes.

I have a good feeling I will be recommending you do the same. You're half way there with one of your mounts!

(Jeremi-style= torch the old factory rubber bushing out, and use poly-end link bushings on the shock like a regular shock bushing, with washers-much more durable)

RE: Check out what happened to my shock mount

Yea I used washers(very large ones) on both sides, It seems like it should hold out a little longer. Since I did that on the other side and that mount is still holding up pretty good. Craig why would you swap out your mounts... I thought they were fine? (Or are you talking about the 97) Which I presume still has the stockers in there.
