(note the 2 cracks)
Please note these are Raybestos PG Plus rotors. They have about 5k miles on them. These brakes were babied most of their life except for the time the were broken in.

I would be more likely to say "Don't use drilled rotors"

Note that the crack propagated from a stress concentration point... the big ol' hole in the rotor.

I'll second what Dave said. If you want a machined rotor, go with a slotted rotor. You won't run into cracking issues, and many folks will say they actually operate better than drilled ones.

I wouldn't condemn all drilled rotors, if they are machined/drilled properly they won't crack. I've had mine for almost a year and haven't had any issues, and I'm HARD on mine. The ones max bought were the standard rotors that were "drilled" by the seller...probably at home on a drill press. One mistake in the placement of a hole in a rotor NOT designed for holes is most likely the cause for these cracks...EXPECIALLY BRAND NEW rotors! Poor Max :)

I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains, my wife drives over the hill everyday. Ive replaced her (stock) rotors twice, because of warping in just 2 years. A few weeks ago i replaced them with Power Slot Performance Brake Rotors. A little expensive, But WOW what a difference, Ive never had a car that stopped so smooth. I'll be putting them on my Mark at the next pad change!

If you don't break them in correctly, they WILL warp too. Run up to about 50-55 MPH and brake HARD (to just before Anti-locks come on) about 5-or 6 times. Don't be stopped at all. This should be done right after install.

I did that, I just think Chrysler made crappy rotors for heavy use, at least for this car. 2000 concorde.
