The LOD-NCA is a unique group of individuals, each with their own taste and style. But we all have something in common. A car. The car brought us all together. Now we are no longer strangers. We share a common interest, and that is what brings us closer each time we meet.

A few of us have spent time together, whether it be a small meal after some mufflers got installed, or getting completely soiled in tranny fluid, helping each other fix their cars.

But then mother nature decided she would rain upon us a few times a week, for months on end. So, we all havent seen each other very often.

This post is to stir something up within you all. I check this website several times a day, and this is the first place I look. OUR forum. It is our meeting hall that can be viewed by others, but is mostly for us to share thoughts, interests, and just get caught up on whats happening in each other's lives.

here's what I know so far:

Stanley has a new baby. I havent met her yet, but have seen pics from day 3 of her life. Then he bought a new car. A bad ass Caddy that I saw pics of when it was first purchased.

John bought a new house, and has been dealing with mortgage companies, inspections, and the stress associated with the new cost of living.(and he is now my neighbor!)

Scott has decided not to renew his LOD membership, so we dont hear from him on this site, but I assure you, he is keeping very busy with his "projects" and school.

Max has 2 new rides in his stable. A crown Vic, and a sweet little Honda Prelude. His pristine Mark VIII was rear-ended a while back, so until he decides to fix it, it is mostly "parked". He seems to be doing well, other than that.

Bobber, Obby, Lance(moved away, but is still "one of us"), Workoutman...

and there are a few new members I have recruited, but we have yet to meet them.

Brenda and I have decided to get out of drag racing(for now), and we have sold off both race cars, and the truck, and trailer are soon to follow. I have also done a few things to my 94 Mark VIII, most of which you all know about. I still plan on adding more goodies as time(and money) allows. We are looking to either replace her 95, and/or add another Mark VIII. There are a few prospects out there. We are considering either a Gen 2(base or LSC), or a Gen 1 with alot of miles to keep cost down. We basically want to have 3 of them. Mine, hers, and "ours". if we opt for a high-mileage Gen 1, it will become our "toy". Mods will begin with that car. Gears, trans, chip, suspension, wheels, and then we will bring it to the drag strip often, just to beat the living snot out of it, and learn more and more about them. Eventually, I plan to be known by many, and to have one of the baddest Mark VIII's in the country.

Share with us guys. We wonder what you are all up to. Tell us what is new in your life. I dont care if its new flowers in your garden, a new car wax you have tried, or your second car just got new tires, and you want to tell us all about it.

This is OUR forum. lets use it. I miss you guys, and quite frankly, I like reading what you all have to say, no matter what it is...

Dont let me be the only one posting here...I am getting bored seeing my posts with few or no responses.

Someone please...just write...........Thanks.

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

Well, like you said, Craig - most my time has been involved wrapping up this new house. If it weren't for the delays involved transferring money around electronically, I'd be in the house this weekend, but because of the time involved in these transfers, it will probably be Monday or Tuesday until I get the keys.

'Put a brand new-in-the-box suspension compressor in last weekend. A "buy it now" at $200 happened to turn up on eBay right when mine went, so it was perfect. I did the bumper cover removal method, since that's what the tech manual also recommends. It took about 3 hours, but would be faster the second time. I did make the mistake of test-driving it with the bumper cover off, and didn't realize that no support meant the inside fender splash guards would blow back into the tires. So i wore big holes into both sides, but have already received the replacements from Max at FiveStarFord - $30 each. Live and learn...they go in this weekend.

The T-Bird still has that electrical problem - 'hope to start digging into in once I'm settled into the new place. I visit TCCoA.com a lot to keep up with the T-Bird stuff.

I'm also an audio nut, as in pro-sound, studios, etc., so I've been buying a lot of JBL pro components on eBay, (speakers, drivers, crossovers, etc.), so I can finally start building/experimenting when I get into the new house, (I know I'll be too paranoid to spend any more once I move) Anyway, I spend time in some audio forums, just like this place. 'Also play bass in a part-time band for fun.

I probably won't be able to make the Knotts Berry Farm run, but would be into a cruise up the coast sometime later.

That's about all for now...

John

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

Guys,
I agree the forum is our easiest communications link and like John I visit a couple different forums.

I recently purchased a 1987 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 Non-turbo Z31. I call it "Project X". It has an excellent body and very clean overall. I have been working on it for the past month fixing a bunch of little age related problems. Things like the gas level sender, hatch back weather strip, rear shocks, plugs, and a bit of rust under the tool kit in the back. I visit ZCar.com and Z31.com.

The bigger Z31 projects are;
1. Replacing the timing belt, belt tensioner, OHCams oil seals, thermostat, water pump, hoses and belts.
2. Replacing the infector connectors.
3. Replacing the front struts.
4. Replacing the front and rear speakers.
5. Potentially the fuel pressure regulator.

This little car has a computer that gives out the codes by flashing the LED's but I think there is a grounding issue with the engine which I will fix in time.

In my spare time I am struggling with my Mark's stock CD Changer that continues to display "No CD". This is a real bummer. I am going to bench test it if I can get a harness schematic, radio head end to changer.

Meanwhile I continue to search for a job. I have to much free time and to many honey-dos. I can't find enough excuses not to do them. On her list is a Kitchen remodel (23 cabinets doors and more) and a Bathroom remodel.

The "back 40", my garden, in starting up and needs attention. So I have started cultivating, feeding, trimming, clearing and all that stuff. This might be the most therapeutic activity of all.

This summer I will go prospecting again up in the sierras. My son has helped me in the past and may not be available this summer so the schedule is unknown at this time. I always enjoy getting a little color, it's like fishing, good and bad days.

So now you have a little more. If anyone wants to work on the Z31 let me know. Cheers to you all.

Bob

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

as you guys already know I have a crap load of stuff on my plate.... I have been covering the gay marriage story for over a month now now stop I am up to my ears with gay marriage crap (nothing Personal)but I believe there is other issues that the news should address.

Brooke is 3 months now and still not allowed in the Lincoln that is why I bought her the Caddy!!!

I am waiting for the Webby Awards to be announed so I have been working very hard on my other job running the day to day operations of We8there.com.

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

Stan

Only in California and San Francisco could the news media get so slanted as to support Gay marriages with all the other things going on in the world. It really becomes a side show with the "in your face types" center stage. Amazing, but true.

Now if the media could cover the car clubs we could have some fun watching and listening rather than just tuning out the dribble.

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

Nothing to say? OK, I finished the Z31 repairs and it is running well. Next I will update the injector wiring with new connectors as some are corroded.

Otherwise on the Mark VIII front, I have not been able to repair the CD Changer. I bought a used one on eBay and it at least processes the disc but will not play it either. It is looking like I will have to go to after-market gear. Any ideas on products that seem more reliable?

Thanks, Bob

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

Hey Bobber I do have something to say... I am just as much against over-covering the Gay marraige issue just as much as you are tired of hearing it... However, I don't have any control if I choose not to cover the issue there will someone new to take my place quicker than you can say Z31.....

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

My latest:
Installed new 764 copper spark plugs, and just received my MSD plug wires(to be installed today).
I took runner up at the drag races last week(well, they had to draw numbers out of the top 5 to see who gets what trophy-honestly, I would have smoked them all :) )

I am performing a few JMODS for other Mark VIII owners in the near future. One of which is ToddnMiss(Todd). He is a new Mark VIII(97LSC) owner, and is a welcome addition to our car club. I will meet him in my town this Sunday to perform a JMOD, plugs, sensor lowering, fuel filter, silencer removal, trans cooler, and a few other installs for him. I'll also do a 1-2 accum upgrade, bigger pan, and mercon V for Brenda's brother Tommy(Big Johnson). he owns the shop I have been using to do all the above mentioned work.

I'll let you all know how these plug wires work. they are supposed to be a great upgrade, and with my copper plugs, Black Ice should haul booty even more!

RE: Dont you guys have anything to talk about?

Choclate Days

Stan and Craig,

Here is an idea tht I picked off the 300ZX Club postings.
" Oakdale Chocolate Festival outing.
ZONC is planning a Drive to the Oakdale Chocolate Festival on May 15th.
Participation in the car show is $20 for one day and $30 for both days with an additional $5 for registration the day of the show. Included is admission for two adults and a bag of goodies.
Normal gate hours are 9:00AM until 5:00PM so get there early for a good parking area. Admission to the festival without being in the car show is $4.00 per person, children under 12 free.

The Corvette Club is putting on the car show so let's get as many "Z"s to show up as possible. "

Use the link for appliations. http://www.chocolatefestival.org/

Anyone like chocolate? :9
