I drove a marauder yesterday, and I was rather impressed. It was an 03 with 27k miles. I don't know why every review of the marauder was complaining about the "no low end power". It feels much stronger than a mark (from the line) with those 3.55 gears.
Since I have a crown vic, this comparison was even more interesting. A marauder to a crown vic is like NIGHT and DAY. My 98 CV has 210hp and 2.82 gears, different steering, different shocks, wheels etc etc. All in all the marauder feels like a MUCH smaller car than it actually is. Speed wise it feels almost like a mark 8, but the transmission on that car is WAY better, the shifts are just firmer and quicker, there is less hunting for gears, Marauder feels lighter than my mark when taken through the paces. Oh btw I am not sure if they come stock with an infinity speakers because that is what this car had (I thought they came with audiophile stereos). Nonetheless the stereo was very decent in producing bass. Did I mention you can actually HEAR the stock exhaust in the marauder? Sounds pretty darn good, although it will be too quiet for most.
CONS:
The silver/white dash is ugly and looks too cheap in a 35k car. There is no wood anywhere?! Perforated steering wheel looks awfully cheap as well.
All in all I think a Marauder is a very worthy replacement for a mark VIII and terribly underappreciated. I don't see why anyone would by a 10 year old impala for 15k instead of an almost new marauder for 18k.
