Dyno Dumbfoundedness

I was told that that warble is caused by the trans wanting to go to 4th while commanded to stay in 3rd. TC lock/unlock.

It might be some slip in the torque converter. That's certainly feasible. But the trans doesn't "want" to do anything it's not told to do. If it's not told to go to 4th, it's not going to 4th! I wouldn't expect it to lock and unlock like that either, certainly not that frequently, unless there's something wrong with the clutch.

I do know that even with the TC locked up, at about 120 mph (can't remember if this was with 4.10's or stock gears) you'd feel the torque converter lock up again. The reason being, the torque converter is constantly slipping just a tiny amount in order to quell driveline vibrations. It doesn't "fully" lockup until you get to a very high speed. That might also have something to do with what's going on.
 
Ok, I'm reviving this thread. I have heard some good opinions here but am not too sure yet on my best approach. I am sending my chip back to have the shift points raised after diagnosing the fact that my tune is indeed using stock shift points. Concerning the "warble" up top, can I have the tuner address this issue by retarding the timing or are we "chasing a ghost" here in which case only some time on the dyno incorporated with a tune can narrow this down?

According to the dyno operator, my knock sensors were pulling timing up top in the higher rpms. Would it be to my advantage if the tuner retarded the timing and if so, by how many degrees? Any tuners here that can help me? Is this what I am indeed dealing with or is hard to say at this point until I have another pull? I did recently go down to the 22c plugs before I ran it at the track. Opinions are greatly appreciated. :)
