Eaton for MK8?

Does Eaton make a diff that can be used in the Mk8? Or can a non IRS 8.8 28 spline be used? Someone in a different post mentioned machining the side gears on a Factory Trac Lok from a non IRS 8.8 to use in the MK8. Is this a possible modification so that an Eaton can be used in the MK8?

An eaton locker can be used, but i don't think you have to make any modifications. A friend of mine has an eaton in his thunderbird.

I've got an Eaton posi in my 96.

Works great.

My regular tranny guy didn't know how to do it, so it must be somewhat tricky.

I took my car to a shop that specializes in rear ends and they were able to do it without any modifications.
