Has anyone installed an override switch for the electric fan so you can turn it on when you want. (at the track and such). I trued using the search but i didnt find much. I need to know what parts i need and instructions if you have them. Thanks

just put the ac on, the fan will run the whole time on high speed!

The point is to have the fans running with the car off when i need them to. Thanks for the advice it is good to know.

Driller i am going to go search right now!

Be careful running the fan with the car off...

That sucker will put a hurting on your battery.

If your doing it for "cool down" at the dragstrip, you really have to be careful.. as it will drop the voltage to a point the car "slows down".

If the battery voltage drops, the alternator will be running at "full charge" when you make your pass {not conducive to running low ets)

not saying it wont help, but those that think if a "little is good, the more is better" will quickly find themselves with a dead/weak battery and the ignition can suffer from the loss of available power.

Do a search on a "tick tok" box, real race cars use them in conjunction with an electric water pump.
First it runs the pump for "your desired amount of time" then the pump turns off and the fan runs for "your desired amount of time" then it cycles back to the pump... and alternates back and forth.. so you dont "wipe out your battery" trying to cool the car down.

Just a tip, hope it helps

Cooler car=harder working alternator and weaker spark. :D Its a lose/lose situation! Haha

Thanks for the replys guys. I didnt think about the alt working harder during the runs but it does make sense. I was thinking about having a second battery in the trunk to help with the audio equipment a, and it would help the charging system. My 93 isnt a track car so i might just pass on the over ride switch...

If anything....you could get a jump box with a wall outlet and run a small house fan. Probably be MUCH easier....you'd probably get pointed and laughed at, but every bit helps! Heatsoak SUCKS.

I inadvertently misled you, it was in the drivetrain forum - http://www.lincolnsofdistinction.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1318&highlight=cooling+switch.
