I was wondering if anyone has heard of any engine swaps into an ls? I can get hold of some ls series engines for real cheap and i was thnking about how bad ass a lincoln ls with a H/C ls1 would be...400+rwhp, a solid rear, etc...I can get a high mileage ls for around 5 grand, the motor for cheap, with a t-56 and maybe put an 8.8" in the rear or something? I was just wondering if anyone had done any swaps so i could get a good idea of what i'd have to look out for. Is the engine bay quite big? just simple questions. At the moment i'm about to buy a gto, but if this could be done without too many worries i would maybe go look at an ls or two.

Honestly...if you have about 10K to throw at an engine swap I'd say do it. There are plenty stand alone ECU/Wiring setups for the LS1 so all you'd have to worry about is the functionability and the mechanical portion of the install.

I understand that the AJ v-8 from a Jag is a bolt-in. Factory rating was as high as 420 hp. with considerably more available with things ranging from a pulley up to a K-B style supercharger. They don't feel extremely strong on the low end for a supercharged car, especially when compared to a LS-1 Vette, but they can be made to come alive in a two-ton Jag. Upgraded ECU's are readily available to match the increased boost, and could potentially pass the smog Nazis, if that is a factor. Avoid the pre-2000 engines.
I prefer the sleeper style vehicles and may consider such a conversion if I ever get old enough for a four-door car!
