Recently I side swiped a deer. Luckily the only damage to the car was to the passenger side mirror, which was demolished. My local body shop and nearby salvage yards all wanted well over $200 for a mirror, so I turned to Ebay. I found a mirror that was supposed to be for a 2003-2005 LS for $75 so I bought it. When it arrived it was totally different than the mirror on my 2004. My mirror is hinged but the new one has a solid body. I think the mirror is for a 2000-2002. The seller told me that the hinged mirror was an option and that the mirror he sent was from a 2004 LS. The new mirror has power adjustment and puddle lights like the original mirror. I installed it on the car today. It fits and functions, but looks totally different than the original mirror. Can someone tell me if there was a hinged vs solid mirror option on 2004 LS's? I can believe that Ford had some old mirrors left over in 2003, but surely not by 2004. I also find it hard to believe that Ford would stock two different parts for something as basic as a mirror. Pardon my ignorance, but I bought the car used so I don't know a lot about the options that were available. Thanks.

I can try that, but I live in a small town where the same family owns the Ford, Nissan, Pontiac, and GMC dealerships. They don't stock Mercurys or Lincolns and don't care much about Fords. I already called the Ford/Merc/Lincoln dealership where I bought the car, but the parts guy wasn't very helpful. They're mainly a Ford dealer who keeps a few Lincolns. I guess I could find the number for a larger Lincoln dealer on the internet, but I was hoping someone here would have an answer off the top of their head.

Don't call them on the phone....GO there and they will assume you are going to BUY the part.... they can not afford to turn down sales in this day and age. Better idea!! Call Max at 5 star Ford - he sells to a lot of our members here. (800) 866-1520. Ask for Max and that we sent you to him.

The mirrors changed in 2003. 2000-2002 all the same, fixed and no puddle lights.
2003-2006 all have puddle lights but folding was an option. Most were fixed. Manual folding only ,no power.
You can put any mirror on any year LS. The early cars will need to run a power wire to the mirror for the puddle lights but everything else is the same.
