im taking my car to the track for the first time today, its for a test and tune event but one of my buddys is going, last time he was at the track he ran a best of 14.9, we're supposed to race, i wanted to know what the best way to launch a stock car is, traction on? or roll into throttle with traction off? which will produce the best times, my tires dont grab at all, i just wanna give myself a chance at beating him

Stock gears?

Depends on tires...

OD off.

Traction Control off.

Roll into the throttle.

OR

OD off.

Traction Control ON.

Mash the throttle.

I think tires mean more than anything. If you have hard high-mileage tires, it's going to be tough to get a good launch.

tires are fairly new, tho, the local cruise + burnout spots might have taken a few miles off them, they're michelin somethings but they've always spun horribly, i think ill try both ways, i was just tryin to see if there was a better proven way to go on street tires

well i race and found out the traction off with letting a little air out of the tires gave best et's, tho my best 60ft was with traction on which i only tried the first time, ended up gettin 5 runs in, all were against my friend, i ended up beatin him 3-2, i had a lot of fun, it was the very first time ive ever run a car, need to work on my reaction time a bit but it was a blast, cant wait to go back, my best time ended up bein the last run 15.24 @ 93.35

yea its all stock, as far as i know, 60ft with tc on was 2.2532, with it off, the best was 2.2343, lol ok, well then my last run with tc off had a better 60ft than with it on, but the other 3 times with it off they were worse than with it on, probly just me gettin used to the car on the launch, slowest 60ft was 2.31

i think i could have had better times on a cooler day, it was muggy today, my buddy runs 14.9s usually and today had a best of 15.349

I think a 2.2-2.3 sixty foot would be pretty normal for stock setup on street tires.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the experience! :)

2.2x is a really good 60ft time. I think your Mark VIII ran pretty much in line with where it is supposed to be.

I quickly checked some of my old timeslips so this is probably when she was still stock - I managed a few 2.2, but we're looking at more 2.3s or 2.4 and I saw a 2.5 in there. Even with the higher 60 foots, I was running lower 15's, although a 15.2 was pretty common. All depends on conditions, but I think you should be happy with your 60 foots, especially if it was your first time out.

yay, and to think i was worried about having bad launches and i end up having pretty good ones for my set up

yea i know driller, i was gonna make a post in the discussion with a pic of the timeslip so u can officially add me
