Well I did it; I ordered the TWO new front strut/bags for the car from SUNCORE.com
$337.59 after shipping. I have to say they are the nicest people. I had to call them, I was afraid my order did not go threw (I was having difficulty making the online order) and they are very friendly and helpful. If you are in Florida they are located Pompano Beach, Fl. 33060 I ordered my rear bags from them and I'm very happy with it.

Why would you buy recovered used ones vs buying new ones for the same price ? I have both and I will only be buying the new in the future (American Air).

As far as I know only OEM are all new. All the others are rebuilt/recycled cores. In other words, the internal absorber is worn.

For the rears it does not matter. They seem to last a long time and any brand will do. The OEM fronts cost so darn much though. But its a one time purchase over 10 years.

No, the Arnott's are all new, that's what Eddie is also selling. Yes the FOMOCO's probably are the best but the Arnott/American Air are the next best choice at almost half price. Eddie stopped selling the Suncore rebuilds do to quality issues of the shock that gets only recovered. By now being able to offer all new components there is little reason to still offer rebuilt stuff.

Ahhh... gotcha. I remember for a while Eddie was not even selling the fronts cause of SunCore.

I bet soon that Ford will not even have stock. Well not the Gen II stock anyway, everyone keeps buying them up!

I talked with Max about a week ago and he told me that he hasn't sold a new set for several years now. I think he quoted us like $600/set. Adleast he was sympathetic.
Eddie had a post and mentioined all that I put above, so take it from there. I wanted to see what the trade off would be as I have another project coming up, and if was only a little more for FOMOCO I would have gone for it, but not at double the price.

my father in law bought his navigator off this mechanic/dealer and he saw my 98 out front and started talking to me about mark VIII's. long story short this guy is the brother of the guy who owns suncore here in florida and he even told me himself his brother was not doing so good on his mark VIII suspension. he told me he bought a mark VIII to fix up to resell and bought struts from his brother and said one of them leaked at the bag right out of the box. he said he was not the type to crap on his own family but he said when it came to suspension stuff he would never buy from his brother again, then he says he ended up buying struts off a guy named Eddie, i said oh yes i am familiar with Eddie, he said he never had a problem after dealing with Eddie, so take it for what its worth, suncore's struts are not brand new, they are re-bladdered old cores with new air bellow's on them and repainted to look new. junk in my opinion.

the stock strut/bags are $800 each from ford

Not sure where you got that price from, but as mentioned they are about $600 per set. Even cheaper at other places. I think I paid around $500 for a set. The important thing to know is to buy Gen II absorbers. They are a lot cheaper. There is no reason to buy Gen I struts. They are heavy and apparently can start binding after some usage.

OK I got the strut/bags installed this week from suncore.com they work but I wish they were stiffer struts. The front just doesn’t feel very sporty even though it is a lot better than before. I wish I could try another brand to compare.

Let the fun began. Well here we go with problems with the suncore.com struts. First the made a mistake and sent me TWO left struts, next they send me the right strut but it isn’t the same style as the left and now the solenoid rubs the bag. The struts do not seem as stiff as they should be but IV never driven a new mark to know how it should feel. I wish we had a page on the website that has company names and parts that let members rate good or bad so other members know who it might be best to order from. I'm becoming les confident in suncore.com :(
