FWIW, I evidently didn't tap the correct wires for either the MAF or tach.
From what I can find out, the IDM circuit is NOT the compatible tach signal and the PIP circuit is. Has to do with the PIP signal being a square wave compared to the IDM signal.
Either I misread the color code on the MAF signal return wire or the book is wrong. Regardless I should be able to correct both when I can find the time to get back to the project.
