Good parts site

Mark Darrah turned me onto this site. It is not the only place to buy ford parts, but the drawing feature is great. Sure looks like the same diagrams the dealers have access to. You can even zoom in for better detail. Maybe other sites are out there, but this is the only one someone has pointed me to.

They list some hard to find items like the steering column bearing track and even new oil pans. I even see they list the driver's side seat control bezel (in graphite only). They do show most of the rear suspension nuts and bolts as unavailable, so that lends a little credibility to their database, unlike those outdated parts sites like Tousley. I ordered a bunch of oddball stuff so I'll report back whether it's legit or not. I was hesitant to post it until I'd checked it out. In any case, the parts diagrams are well worth a look.

Just a followup on this. They are SLOW. It takes 3 - 5 days just for them to START processing your order, and if your parts aren't in stock it can take another 3 - 5 day before they get them ready to ship.

Another issue: When ordering fasteners of any kind (nuts, bolts, etc.), their web site lists them individually. However, Ford now requires customers to buy fasteners in bags of whatever multiples they package them in. So for instance, you may only need 3 of a particular stud for the timing chain cover, but they come 5 to a pack and you must order in multiples of that. That means extra cost, especially if you need 5 and they come 4 to a pack! And if you don't order the correct quantity, your only choice is to cancel your order and start the whole process over. By the way, I'm told that this policy applies to all Ford dealers. So moral of the story is to call ahead of time and ask how many come to a pack.

I sent my first order on May 7th and was told on May 12th that I had the wrong quantities so I had to cancel it. My second order was made on May 17th (I was gone that weekend), and it the order status still hasn't been updated. BTW, they do not charge your card until they ship. So plus one for that.

As for their online database, it seems to be fairly up to date, but there was one item I ordered that turned out not to be available.

I know Mike received his order so I'm not concerned about them ripping me off, but be prepared for a slow process. In any case, I think I'll stick with Max from now on. The site is still great for the parts diagrams though.

Oh yeah, I've compiled a huge list of fastener (and other stuff) part numbers for second gens and have them all entered in my own personal database. I intend to add the sizes for replacement purposes as well. I'll see if I can get the list posted in the technical section at some point.

Ugh, got this yesterday:

"Your parts had to be ordered from the main facility. For this reason the order should ship out within the next 7 business days when all the parts arrive."

They lied... I ordered a seat thing in grey... order cancelled... not is stock... :(

Well, I finally got the tracking number for my order. They're finally on the way! Supposed to arrive Monday the 13th. Placed my order on May 17th, so almost a month to get them. Bear in mind my major problem was the fact that I ordered a ton of fasteners that had to be ordered in exact multiples. Other than that, I guess if you're really set on low low prices, they might be worth the trouble. I prefer to deal with Max and pay a bit more though.

There is no way around the packaged bolts anymore. I will go out on a limb though, and say that I can beat their prices on every part, and you can have the stuff here usually next day or within a week at the most. You like it difficult I guess ;)
