gutted cats

If I had my front 2 cats gutted would I see any horsepower gains or is it not worth it? I have 2 cutouts before the 3rd cat so i'm already bypassing that. I figure the front two cats and the stock headers are holding me back a lot.

you'd probably see a gain. headers are a better solution though.

Well here's the deal, I live in CA and smog is hard to pass. I don't have to get smogged for another 2 years so I thought it would be easy to gut the cats and then put on high flow cats later to pass smog. Putting on headers and then replacing them with stock ones would be too much of a hassle for me. Thanks for the info anyway.
