Having problems with rear lights

My rear neon and both corner lights (rear lights) do not come on when I turn them on (using the interior switch..) the front hid lights do turn but not the corner light (orange light on the side of the headlights). But when applying the brakes they will light up, except the neon which the ballast is bad. After looking at it, I found a wire near the battery and I put it against the battery terminal and my rear lights light up and so do the corner lights on the headlights, when I take it off the battery terminal they go off. Weird?!?
Bought this car a month ago and its been laying for 2 years, and finally looked over it today. Any help appreciated!

Sounds like someone jerry-rigged the wiring. You likely need to find an EVTM. Look for a sticky thread here in the electrical forum for some help with wiring diagrams.

Was looking at the diagram, and its so confusing.. SO much wires! Can anyone help me pinpoint where this wire goes?!

I think we need more help from you...what color (s) is/are the wire you found and attached to the battery? Did the lights just come on or were they controlled by the lightswitch/brake pedal? We need more details.....It sounds as if you have multiple problems...

Red wire coming from the left fender. Everything works fine, when the switch is off and I'm driving it the rear lights work when braking. Now when night comes I turn on the lights and only the HID lights activate, all other exterior lights do not work, except when braking. So I looked under the hood and see this red wire and at the end of it is a circular metal peice. So playing with the wire, I put it against the left battery terminal (Whatever its called) and press against it with my finger because its just a wire and my dad looks at the rear lights and everything lights up except the neon which has a bad ballast and the front orange lights light up as well. When turning the switch to off, these lights stay on and hid lights turn off. If you want I can take a video of what its doing and what the wire looks like.

looked at the wiring on the rear. There is a greenwire cut at where the neon ballast is. Any idea if thats what is causing this mess? I'm going to take a couple pictures and then post them here shortly.

There are instructions on how to view/print the wiring and repair procedures for most any vehicle in the electric forum pinned to the top of the thread. Go there to get the color coding to trace out what wires SHOULD be there.

Alright, looked at the diagram from the library database and got it all figured out, the red wire was supposed to be connected to the headlight switch and now it works. Also not sure if this guy is on here, but his name is glitch? I need to contact him about a new ballast.

I had a similar issue

Hope this helps.
For mine it turned out the the big brake light bar had shorted out and kept blowing fuses. I just disconnected it and everything worked fine again.

.....and that short was probably the ballast. That is what glitch provides. It's no longer available from Ford.
