I have an external, scsi Seagate dds4 tape backup, but can't get my Veritas backup software to send anything to it because I don't know how to assign it a drive letter. HELP?

The older ones used to have dip switches on the back of the case to set the scsi id. then you must use the scsi card software to mount the drive and a drive letter will then be assigned.

You can't assign a drive letter to a tape drive, (without special utilities, and I guarantee you don't want to go there).

I've got a Server 2003 system running Veritas, and without looking, I believe you have to first add it to the Devices area, then the Media Pool. If the tape drive is already recognized by the system, Veritas should have automatically found it. It automatically found our SCSI tape drive, but we had to assign it to the media pool.

I'm going into the office later today, and will look a little closer.
