There are network tools, firwall software and others that trace the IP addresses of incoming traffic and there used to be dos commands that did the same. I'm sure there would be a Windows utility that would run in the background.

I was just curious due to having had problems with IP conflicts on our network and also assigning new PCs IPs.
I am learning all sorts of new stuff and started wondering how someone can see IPs across the web; like when the admins kicked Linc_Rulz and were able to block his IP. I also remember years ago on chat rooms how people could ping my address and tell me the lag time. I know how to ping people now, but not how to determine their IP.
I was also curious if people can get MY IP.

Do a search for languard - it works like a charm. Also tells you what ports are open, user names and any vulnerabilities the user might have! Have fun!

Now I know how use "whois" to find out who "owns" an IP. We had a denial of service thing going wednesday, and had managed to pick up the win32 welchia worm, and also some other virus or worm. The virus scan (Norton) showed what IP the traffic was coming from, we did the whois search and emailed the company that the IP was assigned to.
Sort of fun and informative...(I think I'll play with that a little...)
What would be better is if our silly exchange program would WORK so I could finish setting everyone up and get on with my life...
