I bought a 98' MarkVIII not lsc with 89,000 miles runs great loaded including phone and moon roof. I have one question about the Air Comp. It seems to be running alot. It runs when the car is sitting still and when the car is going down the road. I would say that it runs for 30 secs and shuts off for about 5 mins and comes back on for 30 secs. Is the system leaking or is this to normal operation. I think the system is leaking if so I need to contact the dealer I purchased it from. I will check it in the morning to see if it is sitting a little low or not.

It will run when you start the car to get into "drive height" from "park height". Also the car actively levels itself at all times, so it does run from time to time but if it runs a lot the car is trying to keep itself up which would indicate a leak.

Update

After reading up the comp does not seem to be running as much as I had assumed it runs at start up and about 2 mins later runs for about a min and then nothing for a while at least 30 mins or more. I drove it to work this morning and takes me 30 mins to get to work and it did not run at all for that 30 mins of travel. Any ideas. Thanks Alot
 
Go to the above mentioned link (for more info) and do the troubleshoot with the soapy water... check for leaks...
 
You will also hear the pump after you slow down (esp. if you decel quickly) from hwy speed (over 60). The pump will inflate the struts back to slow speed height.
 
Quick method to check for leaks is to get in the car and shut the door, start it up as if you are going somewhere (should rise to ride height), keep key on and pop trunck, get out and turn suspension switch to off. You dash panel light should then be illuminated telling you the suspension system is in off mode. Drive it around or what ever to see if the car leaks down. If it doesn't for a couple of days you have no leaks.
