I got my new tires on

sleeper

Former LOD President
I put on 245/50/16's all the way around, yokohama avs es100's in the front and nitto nt555r drag radials out back. I sensor lowered the car just a little, to avoid excessive wheel gap. You couldn't tell the car was lowered if i didn't tell you, which is how i want it (you know, that sleeper look :)).

The tires look great and perform even better. With just a wee little burnout, i can now floor it from a dead stop (with 4.10's and a 3200 stall) with zero wheelspin. It just snaps your head back and goes.

I haven't driven it in the rain yet, as i plan on avoiding the rain as much as possible anyway (no reason to beat up the lincoln if i have a blazer to drive to work). But i did try a hard launch from wet pavement, and was surprised at the performance. I got some wheel hop, but the car still launched pretty hard.

The car still rides good (although that doesn't matter all that much to me), and it corners like hell too. I've yet to hear the front tires squeal in a turn, and i've been trying. With the drag radials, i can even floor it around a turn and not have to worry about the tail trying to beat the nose around the turn. All in all, great performance. I was somewhat concerned about getting some wandering on rutted pavement, but so far no problems. Of course, the tires are still brand new, so they might deteriorate as they age. Let's hope not, though, i hate it when the car wants to pull all over the road, my last tires did that.

RE: I got my new tires on

aren't they 245/50s ???
I'm glad you like them. I'll see how you like them in a couple months, might buy the same setup then.

RE: I got my new tires on

damn. Going to edit right now. gotta love the little red guy.

RE: I got my new tires on

I like hearing you like the drag radials. I was looking to do them at all four corners. Did you notice any size difference between the Nittos and the Yokohamas?

RE: I got my new tires on

If it stays nice today i'll get it cleaned up and take a couple of shots. The car's been dirty and it's been raining, so i haven't been snapping pics.

RE: I got my new tires on

Those look so hot!!! Your car just looks great, I can't wait to get my yokohama es100's on. Especially the 275's. How do you like the handeling of the es100's? Are they loud tires? I read a bunch of people complaining about that in tire rack, I don't care too much myself, just wondering.

Are you using the DR for dayly driving??

RE: I got my new tires on

Yea, the drag radials are on there for daily driving. I'll probably run it like that until they're about half worn, then get another pair of yokohamas for it, and keep the DR's for the track.

I haven't been able to make the front tires squeal yet. I've tried ripping around corners at almost uncomfortable speed, yet i find the car stays glued. I need to find some better curves.

They might make a lot of noise, but with the headers and 4.10's i can't really tell :). I don't hear them making any noise. However, most tires are quiet when new, they might still get noisy when they're worn down a bit. I'll have to hold off about a year before i can really give a good thorough evaluation of these tires.
