i have a 1993 lincoln mark viii i race it on a dirt circle track i am one of the points leaders and the car has been having a problem were it stumbles when u first hit the gas and then again between 3000 and 5000 rpm and the last time i drove it it was running the worst it ever had then i went out to drive it again about a half hour later i had checked all my coil connections and my fuel injector connections and when i went back out it now will not idle by itself but the stumble has gone away and the car has never been this fast before what could cause this kind of a problem i also checked fuel pressure and it eas good thank u

Have you tried pulling codes from the PCM? Sure sounds like a problem with the IMRC's.

yes i tried that and i get a knock sensor code and a pcm fault code thats it and i made the pcm code go away by not disconecting my battery every week i was loosing the computers memory

If knock is detected then the computer will pull out timing and detune the engine. Bad gas maybe?

i just ran the codes and i no longer have any trouble codes if the imrcs are stuck say on the short intake runners could that cause the car to loose vaccume at idle and not let the car idle properly ?

Bad idle control valve maybe?

And do you have any pictures of the mark on the dirt track?

yea i have pictures but i cant figure out how to upload them on this site so if the imrcs were stuck open the car would still idle and if the iac was going bad could that have caused the stumble and loss of power i was having ?

Have you checked for a vacuum leak? My '93 acted like it had a bad IACV and stumbled on occasion. Finally had to break down and buy a vacuum pump to isolate and find the leak(s). Once I fixed the leaks, it was back to good again.

yeah there are not any i put the vaccume pump on it and it did not bleed down so i am lost i think its gotta have something to do with my imrc's
