on the way home from work today my 93 mark started having some issues
first the batt light came on and the climate controll shut down
the the message center flashed check charging system
i pull over and looked at it and figured the altenator was taking a crap
when i got home a pulled the battery wire off the battery to see if it was charging
i got inside to look at the message center when the car ideled up and then there was a flash
and the car died
i hooked up the the battery and restarted the car now the battery light is out and the climate control is working
everything is ok except now my windows wont work and they are down,
locks and moonroof still work
i checked the fuse and it was ok

anyone have any ideas what went wrong

Likely it was the alternator.

Flash? Sounds like a short somewhere. Could've been the reason the alternator went out?

Step 1, charge the battery. First make sure the battery connections are clean and tight.

Step 2, test the alternator or better yet, remove it and have it tested while the battery is charging.

Step 3, load test the battery.

Did you check ALL the fuses? Including under the hood? Maybe a fusible link blew?

i didnt check all fuses just the ones marked for the power windows
worked late today and i ran out of daylight
ill have to check it tomorrow afterwork
thanks
il update later after i check things out

This tool will Load test the battery [After a recharge]
And tell you the condition of alt output.

Don't load test the battery with the motor running.

I wonder if the "flash" didn't come from the fuse box under the hood.

There is a postive wire connected to the back side of it, wonder if he has a loose connection to the fuse/relay box under the hood?

Possible. Could've been a fusible link as well. Can't say I've ever seen one blow.
