I have a 2001 Lincoln LS V8 with 68,000 miles that I purchased back in March of 2004. About a year later, I have been experiencing transmission problems. The check engine icon remains lit, the check transmission indicator is on, along with an "E" that has replaced the gear shift indicator for the transmission that is located on the left side of the odometer.
Anyway, I am looking to purchase a used but quality transmission, since the dealer wants $3,500 and AAMCO has quoted a price of $2,500.
I live in Philadelphia, Pa and am willing to either pick it up or have it delivered. I went on Ebay and I noticed a few trans were for sale, but for some reason, I didn't feel comfortable enough to buy it.
I am looking to trade my vehicle in as well, but every dealer is telling me to get the trans fixed first.
Anyone have any leads?
