My 97 courtesy (dome) lights sometimes turn on by themselves, while I'm driving, and then I can't turn them off. I've already tried swapping the dash light dimmer/courtesy light switch, with a good spare, that wasn't it.
The door ajar warning never shows when this happens, only when the door is ajar.
The 97 and 98's don't have door jamb switches, so it's not that.
I'm guessing it's wiring or the SCIL module at this point.
