Interior Lights

Hey guys, just bought my 1994 Mark VIII tonight
However the interior lights will not turn off, I think it has something to do with the passenger side door, the switch is bent
I have been told this is a common problem, any advice on a cheap quick fix before it kills my battery??

as a quick intro I live in Vancouver BC, I work as a computer tech and am a car nut on the side

Glad to be a part of the club, hope to hear an answer on this one soon

This has helped a lot of other FoMoCo vehicles as well as our Marks. Liberally spray your door latchs with WD40. Open/close doors a few times. This will probably 'fix' it.

The 94's use the door jamb switch for the interior lights.

If your door jamb switch is damaged, replace it.

Until you replace it, you might want to pull the fuse.

I'm going out to try the WD40 if that fails I will pull the fuse
In an effort to see what exactly was causing the issue we got in slowly, first driver, lights went out, then passenger got in, lights went out

then when starting the car the lights came on and did not go back off, shortly after (the computer said 96km left in tank) it died, felt like it ran out of gas, about to go out and figure out what really happened, then the battery drained itself and I was left with no gas or power.

hope its not a lemon because I am stuck with it for at least a while now

Also go to the panel dim switch to be sure it is not pushed all the way up so that it turns on your lights. Also take the light switch to the manual mode.
