Lincoln Continental Mark III

:) Hi fellow Mark III owners.

I have a Lincoln Continental Mark III that has only 10,800 miles.
Triple Black. Black Paint, Top and Black Leather interior an almost like new condition.

How much is a car like this worth? My dad thinks I should sell it?

We bought it in Western Penns in 1988 with only 8,500 miles and for the past 19 years, it has been sitting in my garage.

Do you all know of any appraisers that would judge this car? It has got to be worth a pretty penny I would think? :big-grin:

Please advise,

Richard

I've forgotten how "BIG" these cars were....it's a beauty tho... Sorry I can't help with your question but SOMEBODY here will be able to. You may have to wait until after the weekend.

It's a good looking car but I question a few things. The paint looks decent at that distance as does the interior but the poor engine condition belies the 10,000 mile claim. Can you document the mileage?

Also, if it's just been sitting all these years has the oil been changed on a regular basis? Has the car been run regularly? Are the tires new or original?

Just by coincidence I was looking at a very nice Mark III last month. It had full documentation, all owners papers, the original window sticker, build sheet, all service records, several trophy wins, and much more. The car had about 25,000 miles on it and was offered for sale for less than $15,000 and had no takers.

You can get the names of appraisers in Hemmings, there are tons of them advertising in there.

Going back and looking again, yes, I would suggest a visit to a detailer before a call to an appraiser. It's STILL a very large car!

I wouldn't doubt the mileage based on a dusty engine. You can see all the original stickers haven't peeled, none of the A/C lines are corrooded, I see no oil leaks at the valve cover gaskets, and the only thing that looks like its been attacked by the "usual" is the cast alluminum intake with a small coating of rust.

My guess is he didn't want to spray down the engine and cause any unwanted damage to any of the original items.

The car is definitally a beauty.....if you can't find any appraisers, just keep an eye on eBay and watch what they go for.

Very nice. :)

To the right buyer it would be worth a lot. Hemmings is the only suggestion I can make.

You could also bring it to the All-Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA June 1-3. For a fee they allow For Sale cars. You never know, you may get lucky. ;)

Oh I'm not just looking at the dust, I'm seeing a lot more than that. I'm not really doubting the mileage, just trying to say that someone looking at the car and seeing an engine in that condition will be doubtful and want to further check. That's why some form of proof is so important.

Very true Leo :D Documentation can get you thousands more! Do you have the SMOG papers....maybe you can follow the mileage off of those.

LMAO! J/K :roll_over:

I guess Rick posted this and for some reason is not following his request for help......Maybe gone for the weekend.

Hi Mark III enthusiast,

Thanks for your comments. I got this car in 1988 and showed it once in a LCOC Maryland meeting. My father and I were all into Lincoln at the time but not any more. The car is still in great shape but I really to not want it anymore. I do not want to deal with this anymore for my hobby is now BMW motorcycles. We bought the car with 8500 miles and the car now has 10,657 miles. We just do not drive it. I have the title and state inspection certificates since 1990. Ssince then, the car has not been driven on the road since 1990. We do however drive it around the block on occasion. We continue to pay property tax and my dad is tired of dealing with this and wants it sold. I am asking $15K for this car. It is probably worth a lot more to someone else. :)

Thanks,

Richard
