DEARBORN, Mich., July 29, 2003 –Lincoln will publicly unveil the new 2004 LSE sports sedan in front of its largest owners group in the country and consumers at Varsity Lincoln-Mercury, the division’s top selling dealership in the nation, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30 in Novi, Mich.

The LSE reveal is planned in conjunction with the Lincoln LS Owners Club’s (LLSOC) annual member meeting called "Mania" held July 27-31 at the Hotel Baronette in Novi. The LLSOC, an independent auto enthusiast group, is comprised of more than 1,500 LS owners from across the country. Their four-day event allows club members an "inside look" at product development and manufacturing through plant and engineering facility tours, classroom and on-track training.

"This is a perfect opportunity to showcase the new Lincoln LSE in front of people who have a true passion for the product," said Davang Shah, LS marketing manager. "The input the LS owners provide is an integral part of product decisions and we sincerely appreciate their loyalty and enthusiasm."

Based off the LS V-8 Sports package, the aggressive looking four-door LSE adds a long list of new features inside and out including luxurious wood interior appliqués, stylish LSE floormats, front and rear fascia, all red tail lamps, fog lamps, 17" 7-spoke wheels, side rocker panels, rear deck lid spoiler, color keyed grille surround with chrome vertical bars and more. The 2004 LSE is set to arrive in Lincoln dealer showrooms in early December 2003. Pricing has not been announced.

As part of the LS owners’ event, a group of more than 50 LLSOC members from Arizona, California, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Canada and other locations will travel from their hometowns in separate mini-caravans and will unite in Chicago to form one large traveling parade of Lincoln LS vehicles. The caravan of LS’ will then depart for Michigan and is set to arrive at the Hotel Baronette on Sunday, July 27 at 4:00 p.m.

"This is a homecoming of sorts for our club. We’re coming back to Michigan where the LS was born to honor the history that connects us with the company, car and people that made the LS what it is today," said Brian Gowing, LLSOC president. "Our members were the first to see the original LSE in 2002 and we’re very excited that the tradition continues with the new 2004 LSE model."

On Wednesday, July 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., members of the LLSOC will display more than 30 LS’ of all makes and model years at Varsity Lincoln-Mercury for the public to enjoy. The dealership, which is located near the Ford Wixom plant where the LS is built, has outperformed all Lincoln-Mercury dealerships in the country with 3,351 retail units sold in 2002. The dealership was recently awarded the President's Award for Customer Satisfaction, the highest honor Ford awards its dealers.

The LS has emerged near the top of the luxury sports sedan class. In 2000, Motor Trend magazine named the LS the 2000 Car of the Year. For the fourth consecutive year, the 2003 LS received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s nod for Best Pick. Testing by Automotive Marketing Consultants Inc. revealed the 2003 LS V-8 had "better handling performance than the 2003 BMW 540i."

The LLSOC, based in Canyon Lake, CA, was formed on-line in 2001 with 20 members. In just two years, the club has grown internationally and ballooned to more than 1,500 members. The club’s website, www.llsoc.com, attracts more than 2 million hits per month.

RE: LS Internet club part of new LSE model launch

Sounds like a neat event.

So is there any performance improvement to the LSE? If not, I don't see what all the fuss is about. But then body kits and spoilers don't impress me.
