Mark VIII head unit install

Is it possible to unplug the amp and connect the wires that go in to the ones that come out, instead of rewiring the whole car? I would think that would be what the "bypass" harness does.
My new radio sounds alot better than the stock one, btw.

I don't think you would have much sound coming out of it the speakers if you did this alone with the factory stereo. With an aftermarket one, not sure. I actually think its easier to rewire the whole system, the amount of wires coming out of the factory amp is enough to make an electrician think twice.

Sorry. I mean if you were to install an aftermarket system with an internal amplifier.

Here's an old post on the JBL factory amp wiring diagram. I originally wanted to hook up an aftermarket amp to the factory system for a sub, but even the professional installer couldn't make it work right. He spliced into a bunch of wires coming out of the rear deck and couldn't get it right. Maybe he wasn't that good or gave up on it early. Once I got the aftermarket radio I wired it all up myself and its been good.

Here is the post with the wiring diagram:

I am probably going to buy an amp and some subs soon, not sure yet.
I will probably sell my car by spring.
