a friend told me that his cobra with IRS has violent wheel hop and that I could expect the same from my Mark VIII I dont recall having that problem with my 94 but it was totaly stock and the 4.6 isnt known for its low end power so I am asking is this true? and if so what can be done to control it?

Shouldn't be too much of a problem with 350-400 as long as you have a good trac-loc unit and drag radials. BTW what parts are going in the 347 buildup?

the parts in my engine build are
edelbrock RPM heads/airgap intake/rollercam/barry grant demon carb/KB pistons/H beam rods 347 stroker crank a mild port job .040 over bore making it 349 cu in

A Race built c4 trans
I have not decided what stall yet
nor have I decided what gears to run

this will all be a total loss if I cant control wheel hop

has anyone done anything to control it?

There are several writeups on what to do. There is some welding of the sub-frame, a little boxing here and there of the upper control arms, poly bushings where available, and a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head. If there was a way to brace the upper control arm better, that would help a lot.

Something else is wrong if you have wheel hop with only 4.10s.
I know I had none even with the blower.

i think tires have as much to do with wheel hop as power does. it was never a problem on nitto dr's, they would either hook or spin but not hop. i've used other tires that could be provoked to hop, though.

the only vehicle i've had a serious wheel hop problem with is a 94 f-150 4x4. It's terrible!!! But the mark never hops, either grip or spin, nothing inbetween.:7

I've NEVER had a problem with wheel hop in a Mark. I've done a 5K clutch drop in the 94 with nothin but smoke.

That is possible too. I don't have quite as many problems when my DR's are on the car as I did with the tires that came on it....but the road surface I'm on makes a difference too.

I guess I will have to Just try it out and see what happens and if it does I now have some good input as how to fix it and if not then "I wont fix what aint broke" :)

with my street tires 225/60/16s it spins then hops not that bad but enough, now with my DRs which are 255/50/16s it hooks.

when i put in my 3.73s on my stock rims it spun all the way through first and sideways into second. with my 17 nittos it spun some and chirps violently to second. never had any wheel hop.

current mods:
-3.73 track lok rear
-pullies
-pa trans with manual vb and transbrake
-3000 pi stall
-msd wires
-cobra intake with imrc deletes
-white face gauges
-deleted rear mufflers
-y2k cobra r 17 with nitto 555s
