Just curious if you bought any RD-Ram yet, one of my PC's is the 1.5 Dell w/ RD-ram. right now I've got 4 256's in it. But I know I've got some more laying around, I think 2 64's or 2 128's can't remember. Still in the midst of moving into a new house; but I'll give it to you...doing me no good in a draw. You should have two open slots and the price of RD is just....Let me know.

Anyhoo on another thought I still think that if left to evolve RD would have been THEE KICK-ASS RAM!!!! In the early tests it smoked DDR and being a new design, unlike DDR, it could have only gotten better.

Nope, between Christmas, parts from Joe and Summit Racing... no ram.

RD ram just had poor marketing. That combined with high cost effectively killed it. I used to monitor the memory market pricing like it was a Wall Street commodity... extremely volatile. Timing large purchases was key. I still laugh at 2 old SD modules I bought for like $300 - they were 8MB EACH! :7

I have 768 memory. I could use more as I game on line. The key is buying the right memory, not the cheap memory. Since I have a Dell I deal with them.

No I was saying I'll send my old DELL RD-RAM, free...since I work for a online car detailing products site...no shipping also (UPS). Just got to find it in all the boxes of stuff in the garage...or if anyone wants some RD-ram, two sticks of 64 or 128, can't remember, think it's 64 though, let me know.

i just had my cousin build me a comp. a gig a ram, and i just found out i can run up to like 8 hard drives with this motherboard on the sata connects.

Just wondering if it got to ya yet? Also was thinking that the speed in nanoseconds was 45 or 40 (lowest being best)should say right on the side, just have a 40 or 45. I don't remember what the ones sent were, but if they aren't the same as yours, you may start to get flaky memory errors, a heads up. Should be the same, both from dell, about the same time frame so...

Not a problem, I got all kinds of computer crap tucked away in places, it does me no good, can't use 'em.

I definitely see a speed increase. I don't understand the speed increase with just a memory boost, but I can tell it's 'peppier'. Time will tell what load I can pull before seeing the 'virtual memory' warning. ;)

What OS do you have? XP, 2000, ME, 98?
What size hard drive? How many? How full is it?

Windows 2000 - Service Pack 4
Dell Dimension 8100
P4 - 1.7 GHz
One 60 GB HDD - ~40GB Free

Is this the error you get?
"Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your Virtual Memory Paging file. During this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied. For more information, see Help."

These messages can be related to spyware/trojan infection. Use your spyware and antivirus checkers. FYI.

1. Open your computer's properties.
• In Windows 2000, right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop, and select Properties.
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Open your computer's performance options.
• In Windows 2000, click the Performance Options button.
4. Click the Change button.
5. Under Paging File Size for Selected Drive, locate the Space Available. Click the check box for Custom Size, now rule of thumb is 1.5x your ram size, so if you have 256…384 should be OK. Now the most important part; put that number 384 or what ever amount you want to use in both the Initial size AND the Maximum Size, click the SET button, Click OK.
6. In the Performance Options window, click OK.
7. In the System Properties window, click OK. You’ll have to restart, now what that does is keeps your sys. from having to change the page file size, being a static size is one less thing your CPU has to perform on the fly, hence freeing up more cycles for other things.
It's a good idea to do this anyway, static page file, helps the sys some.

I always put the swap file on its own logical drive and make the Initial size and the Maximum Size the Same. This will prevent fragmenting of the swap file.

I've mucked around w/ trying it all the ways I could think of, I've split it between two drives, I've stripped it between 3 drives...the only config. that made any difference (speed wise) was to place the page file on a seperate drive on a seperate controller from the C: drive.
