Minor annoyances... any thoughts?

Hey everyone. I've been thinking about these for a while, but they werent' important enough to post about. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm posting. Interestingly enough, they both have to do with the key..

item a) if the key is in the ignition, and I open the door, the "dinger" goes absolutely bonkers. It's anoying, and a bit unbecoming for a luxury vehicle such as this. I figure that with the keypad on the outside, what's the point? I'll leave the keys in if I want to! Does anyone know if there's an easy way to disconnect the sensor for this? In my '86 Town Car, this was a simple task. but it didn't have any of the security features that the '97 Mark does. I'm hesitant to go clipping wires when there's a starter-kill, and alarm system in there to contend with.. (Am I better off finding the speaker and disconnecting it?)

Item b) If I unlock the driver's door with the key, it sets off the alarm. This is also annoying, and elicits some choice words from the (otherwise) friendly neighborhood mechanic when I drop it off for service work. I'd imagine that within the lock cylinder, there is an electrical switch that either needs to be replaced, or cleaned. Is this an easy task? Does anyone know any tricks?

That's all for now. I appreciate your thoughts
Thanks
Mike

A)Search "door chime" and look for my post. I asked this question awhile back. I disconnected mine, not too hard.
B) Don't know.

part a!

part a!

Aahh... Pure Blissfull Silence. Many thanks, be2lose and Frankie X. Now to take it to the next level, I'll have to study that diagram from the other thread just a bit more to disable the door switches, so I can have the door open and the radio on. This, however, is a huge step in the right direction. If I really get ambitious, I'll try to find a nicer sounding turn-signal "flasher" while I'm at it. Another sound that I don't think fits the name "Lincoln" all so well.

As for part B, I'll probably hold off for now. One of these days, I'll do an exploratory door-disassembly. (I'd swear I've seen a tech article on that around here somewhere.) I've been meaning to fix a loose speaker grille, and a faulty keyless entry pad anyway. (number 9/0 is bad) I wonder if I can find a keypad before the long weekend...

Many thanks, once again. For now, I'm off to find a beer, and some pizza.

and then maybe another beer....
