Moon roof in imitation convertible? 2000 Town Car...op

Thanks to Art (thanks Art!) I just found out about this BB. What a relief...I have a '97 Mark VIII and I have used markviii.org for 3+ years. Now, we are buying another Lincoln...a 2000 Town Car. Finding this BB is such a comfort, really.

Okay...here is my dilemma. My husband wants to put a moonroof in it because he puts moonroofs in ALL of our vehicles, but because this time the car is "mine," I get to choose (his turn last time, my turn, then his turn next time).

Question: I am on the fence. Part of me thinks, "that is fine...I like moonroofs, so what--it has a fake roof..it just looks like someone wanted the added feature of a moonroof...."

The other part of me is screaming, "no...that looks hideous...who in their right mind would put a moonroof on an imitation convertible...that totally defeats the purpose of an imitation convertible! That is worthy of pointing and laughing at!!!

Do any of you have strong opinions, one way or another on this? Is it as silly as I think it is it just another option. Because, OF COURSE, the Lincoln is not a convertible...so it is not like we are trying to trick anyone into thinking otherwise....oh, I'm so confused. Please help.

Want to see my new baby?

If I paid too much, I don't want to know...I just fell in love with "her." I used the buy it now feature for $16,888. :)

There are 40 pictures, so it could take awhile.

There are 4 things on the car, that the car never left FoMoCo with, that were dealer added, so why would you get gun-shy over adding a Moonroof? I have seen many, many cars with Sim-Cons together with moonroofs, so it would be about a million from the first one ever done. Go for it.

Thanks Sandy. I swear, I just needed someone to say that it was no biggie and it wasn't the most ridiculous thing they have ever seen! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't one of those things that were under the category of stupid, stupid, things people do.

It had nothing to do with adding options vs. factory. It was more specifically on what I was adding (moonroof) to an add-on that currently exists (fake conv)....and was it typically something that someone chooses ONE or the OTHER and not BOTH?!?!?

I appreciate your response...moonroof is going on! Hubby will be oh so happy!

Thanks!

Sandy:

Were you implented with a Lincoln microchip in your brain when you were not looking? How in the world do you know all of this stuff?

Well, I'm glad you do and I'm sure I'm not alone!

I just love cars - all cars (DOMESTIC). I am actually best with Imperials and ascMcLarens.... I sold cars for 27 years, been into cars since age 4. Have friends in high places in Detroit, too. Cadillac/Oldsmobile/Lincoln. I have written for many car buff magazines:
Ford Times/Collectible Automobile/Car Collector/Mopar Monthly/Mustang Illustrated/High Performance Pontiac among others. I am also contributing Editor of the Corvette Black Book, the Corvette owner's bible, and have an extensive library of original brochures, and historical books. I won the coveted "Golden Quill Award" for outstanding automotive journalism also. BUT, I cannot spell for___.
Avocation & Occupation I guess. :)
