new to lincolns

hey new to the site as well as lincolns. i have a 67' 4 door continental that i am just trying to get running good enough to cruise this fall before it goes under the knife this winter. the car runs terrible right now even with new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and points. my question to you guys is where do i go from here? i know this sounds novice of me but i could really use a hand. thanks in advance. heres a picture of the turd.

Your link won't pass our profanity filter but I figured it out. :D

Nice looking project car.

Air, fuel spark is what an engine needs to run. Sounds rudimentary and it is.

First check for any air obstruction or induction leak. On a carb motor this is easy enough. Check your throttle plate linkages, idle passages and look for vacuum leaks - especially on the carb/intake flange.

Next would be fuel delivery. Check the fuel pump and filter. Look for a screen in the carb fuel inlet. Check your jets and fuel float(s). Worst case - clean the carb or have it rebuilt.

Spark is easy enough - you've replaced most of the ignition but you need to check the vacuum advance and timing.

BTW, WELCOME! :)

thanks guys, i have rebuilt the carb but i think it is the wrong one. i never thought ford put carter carbs on anything. i think its still too rich anyway, it came from kansas and i didnt change the jets. it just loads up really bad when you get into it from a stop. as far as the fuel goes it has a new fuel pump and filter. i appreciate the advice, keep it coming. thank you also for the welcome. the picture shows up better if it isnt in the **** folder

found out what the problem is, it has 120 jets in the primarys and secondarys i didnt pay much attention to that when i rebuilt it i guess. it used to be a copper color before but whoever painted it red did it a long time ago, its all laquer paint so it will fade in a matter of days. also, i am looking for a wiring diagram for it but nobody makes a serivce manual for them anymore any ideas?

Looks great!!!! Do you know what offset your rims have, and what tire size are you running? Did you notice a rougher ride?
