New transmission popping out of gear when it gets hot.

I got my transmission rebuilt they took out my J mod and put in their own shift kit no big deal to me if it works and they will warranty it this way. I also had a 3000 rpm 9 inch converter put in. I have not had the chip re flashed. The car is great till after about 2 hours of city driving when the fluid is way to hot the car will pop out of gear in first I cant tell if its the converter or the clutch pack. What do you transmission gurus think it is. The car does not have a cooler on it yet will be adding one soon I'm sure that will help keep the temps down but what is causing it to come out of gear when it is hot.

Umm frying the transmission isn't all that difficult.... how many miles without a cooler?

But this sounds like something else... was everything aligned right when the trans was installed.

Can you describe your symptoms a bit more.

it has a month on it it only does it after driving for a few hours in the city highway is fine

alignment is fine it feels like the trans isn't engaging the clutch pack

Does the trans "neutral out" or does it literally "pop" out of gear? There is an alignment required on the shift cable, so if they have it off, the trans will pop into neutral even though the shifter is in drive.

it feels like the it starts to move then as the torque goes up its feels like it goes to neutral

I just got told by the shop if I drive on it it will void the warranty but to drive it on down to their shop.

Yeah....I never understood why people continue to drive when they find a problem. There was a guy in my apartment that started his car and I could hear his powersteering pump whining like crazy....what does he do....rev the crap out of it. The noise didn't go away so he just drove off. What a tool.

I was following a tbird the other day with the rear wheel changing about 25 degrees of camber

the car would damn near change lanes the guy just kept accelerating

Lol, I've seen that too. Cars driving at an angle because the alignment is soo far off.

Put trans cooler in it and then drive it in the city. I had similar problem on my mark with 3200 stall converter and no cooler.your converter will create a lot more hit than stock converter.with 9.5 inch converter you have less fluid in the trans than with stock converter and higher stall slips more so it is creating more heat.Try to put trans temp gauge in your car and see what is the trans temp in the city and on the highway.

If its done it once....it will do it again man. Its not a good sign, lets just say that.
