OBDII upgrade ?

JP, your observation can't be denied but you also have to remember there were a whole bunch more gen 1's made than gen 2's.

"You can't just toss in the same agressive calibrations from a Gen 1 into a Gen 2 either. Totally different calibrations." - So the Gen II ODB II is more programable, but not programable enough to get to Gen I stock levels?

I'm going to start with a cat-back exhaust on my Gen II LSC 1st. Most likely I'll get a chip or a tuner after that.

The Cobra intake and manifolds sound like great ideas, but the labor for both has to be HIGH..........both are way above my mechanical abilities. :(

My goal is to get this 98 LSC to run at least mid-14's.......without changing rears.

I've got a 02 Vette if I want to go really fast. :)

Ken, like I said my 98 LSC ran 14.6 with just an SCT chip, Dynomax mufflers and K&N conical. I did rev it all the way to 7000rpm which helps because the rpm's don't drop as much when you shift into second and it also lets you finish the 1/4 mile in 2nd gear at around 6800-7000rpm so you don't have to lose time by shifting into 3rd gear. BTW, a little known fact is that 03 Cobra exhaust manifolds will bolt right up and flow a ton better than the stock ones.

Yup. I got some of them 03 Cobra manifolds. While they are the right for my setup, they will work on the older heads. From what I have read, they can handle 600HP just fine. You will have to make a small mod to your steering, jamie97lsc found a better way of doing this than the approach I took and its cheaper. The stock steering joint will hit the exhaust knuckle.

What was Jeremi's fix to get the Cobra manifolds to clear the joint?
