Ontario Drag Days Proposed - July

From Jim's email:
"Regarding the Drag day, seems like July 12th would be good, but I might be away part of July so I won't be able to attend... but that's just me. I don't think we'll get much participation on long weeks, so that throw a few other weekends out. So, how about we try either July 13th (Mustang/Ford weekend) or Aug 16th (a test & tune day) for a Saturday drag trip?"

What say ye???

Neil;

August is too close to the Fines weekend for me. July would be better.

RE: Ontario Drag Days Proposed - July

My thoughts as well. I'd prefer the July date. Hopefully some guys from The States will make a run up as well.

RE: Ontario Drag Days Proposed - July

I keep telling you guys...Friday is a great nite to go. After a long week at work, Friday's great fun. It's cheaper to race on Friday nite too, than on a Saturday. Especially if it's a special event Saturday, I've seen costs as high as $100 to race. But I guess it's whatever you decide.....I'm in..

RE: Ontario Drag Days Proposed - July

If you want to propose a Friday, go ahead and pick a date. I'm sure some guys would try to meet you there. I'm east of Toronto, so I'm not sure I'd make it for a Friday, but then again, who knows!

Suggest a date and go for it.

I got an email back from St. Thomas Dragway:
- entrance fee: C$30 (only US$21!!... come on up!)
- runs allowed: fill you boots (ie: no punch card/dots to limit the number of runs made)

It's a nice track - check out my car picture below. Notice the nice lawn! This place is almost like a park with mature trees, picnic tables, etc. It has air/water for free, a scale, decent food, allows passengers, and no helmets as long as you run 14+.

Go if you can!

I can’t believe you guys want to wait till mid-summer to go racing?

You have 3800+lb cars that will act like a dog in the mid-summer humidity!!! You want your best time? Go now, as the weather is nice and cool, but warm enough to get semi-respectable traction.

I ran a 2.101 60’ in the GTP last Sunday with a beautiful tail wind helping me down the track all day!!!

Phatz:
I hear what you are saying. Would you like to propose a particular Friday night? Some of us who live east of Toronto may want to stay somewhere in the area overnight, so we'll need to make arrangements for accomodation in advance.

RE: Ontario Drag Days Proposed - July

If anyone is interested, Sunday June 22, 2003 is a open Test and Tune day at the track. I'll be there with a few friends and their cars.
