problems with a '79 Town Car

I just bought a '79 Town Car.
Everything but the drivers seat up/down motor, and the clock works.
What problems did these cars have?
Is there a better riding car?

RE: problems with a '79 Town Car

Hi Mike! Welcome! :)

I can't imagine a better riding car than a 70's Town Car, for sure. I'm not a TC expert, but I can tell you from experience if you have a land yacht from the 70's with a good body and the driveline has been maintained, it's a keeper.

Perhaps a couple other residents here will have more to add.

Thanks,
I couldn't believe it, a 1 owner 79 with not even a door ding.
The clock doesn't work and I'll have to figure that one out. Other than that, I'm glad to be part of the land yacht family!

RE: problems with a '79 Town Car

I too have a 1979 TC. The clock on my TC ran a little slow and it was basically just gummed up. Take it apart, clean everything and re-install. This will take time, it will require inginuity and, in my case, a great deal of swearing and wishing that I didn't have such fat clumsy fingers. A roll of scotch tape will come in handy to align all of the rolls when you are re-installing them. Good luck.:7
