Proper Intro

Hello, everyone. I just realized I didn't give a proper intro!

Anyone who knows me will tell you I have vehicular ADD and go through cars like t-shirts. There's only been a handful that I just can't seem to live without and the Mark VIII was/is one of them. I had a brand new one in '98 and was forced to part with it in 2000 -- new marriage, soon to be new baby, start-up venture, etc. The car meant a lot to me on a sentimental level, so it was difficult to get rid of it.

Fast forward 8 great years and 25 awful cars later and life has much improved and I've been on the hunt for another great Mark. I finally found an absolute mint Collector's Edition with 17,000 miles on it... all options except block heater and cargo net -- white pearl / lt. prairie tan interior. It should be safely in my garage to stay next week!

Most think it's silly to have paid nearly $20k for a car that's worth less than half that on paper, for a dream... some think reliving a dream by way of a 10yr old car is rather insane in itself. Regardless, I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to snatch up a nearly brand-new, near-perfect car that brought me a lot of happiness and memories.

This is my first visit to LOD -- but I was a regular member on markviii.org "back in the day." I hope we're all able to be the resource for eachother now as we were then. This looks like an excellent site (and a brilliant design!)

On an even lighter note -- my sincerest apologies in advance to anyone I might offend. I'm an old school Mark-head, I'm a big proponent of all-original/OEM and admit to getting a little woozy when I see what some people do to their Marks. A+ for creativity in most cases... my wife just tells me I'm a boring stiff with an old soul (she loves me dearly, really) who is overly passionate about cars. Bear with me!

Looking forward to learning more about you all. :)

welcome back and congrats, its not crazy to pay whatever you feel something is worth!

Welcome! And.... I'm going to really make you sick when you see what I did to a perfectly good CE.

Welcome, FYI back in the day that site was LOD.

Really? I just remember "markviii.org" -- I don't remember this particular site even existing then. Then again, I don't remember what I had for breakfast either. :D

Nothing more than a custom license plate frame and tint, right? ;) I have an image of a big wing on the lid, fast bags and neon underbody lights. Tell me it isn't so?! You don't want to see a grown man weep.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. I'll be sure to post some pics when I get it Zaino'd and my OCD is satisfied!

Lin, there was a split (simply put) of the club...viii went one way, 8 (LOD) went another. You are now in the original LOD.

I see - thanks for the explanation, Bud... everything seems to make a bit more sense now.

Thanks for the welcome, Trixie!
