Question about my 1994 Mark?

I have a 1994 Mark8, and when going through all the misc papers and guides in the glove box I found the Dealer Factory Warranty Card. I know its nothing but a card with the cars VIN, year, and model. Here is my question, the card reads this
1994 MARK VIII LSC 2-DOOR
1NLM91V1RY*******

The LSC did not come about until 1995, correct?
Was this just a generalized term for the car in 1993-1994?

If you do a carfax, it will likely show up as an LSC.

I don't think anyone knows why, but it's a misnomer.
