What is the main difference between the mercury marauder engine and our engine. I know it is the same block and we have the same trannys so would be a simple intake and heads swap or what?

I believe the Marauder has the C heads. I'm not sure of any internal differences.

we have a stronger block than the marauder. the teksid block that we have stopped its production in the (maybe) 98 cobra. Mark 8s have the best production block

Aside from that the marauder still has cast crank, powder forged rods, and hyper-euretic (sp?) pistions.

the marauder does use C heads

if you consider a headswap simple than yeah its the same except for the block. =P

Stock marauders put down around 240-250hp.

stock mark viiis put down 210-230.hp.

So it is safe to say that a marauder has about 20 extra RWHP.

The Mauraders were more performance oriented than the luxury oriented Mark VIIIs.

The "C" heads don't use IMRC's so you will need to address the intake situation. I am not sure they can be bolted on and your old manifold used. You have a choice to go to plug on coils if you are willing to do a little wiring and utilize the "C" head cam covers, or you can re-use your existing and stay with coil packs as I did. For all the effort vs performance gain, unless you are going to a Super Charger latter down the road, I would recommend other mods like gears, chip, and tranny mods would be more worth the effort. Just retiming the cams is a major deal,

Lets just say someone was thinking or the super charger ;). What intake would be needed in order to make the marauder heads work. Or are our engines manly enough by itself to handle the super charger. Mmmmm are just swap the whole thing.

Anyways, lets just say.

Correct, the '98 Cobra's had the last Teksid blocks.

Several years ago, on this or the other Mark site, someone posted a photo of an IMRC
"eliminator". Turns out that the 99 Continentals have the old style intake but got the
c-heads. This eliminator was a casting with a Y that joined the two ports into one. I
bought a new 99 Conti instead of a carry over 98 because it had 15 extra HP. Until
I saw this posted I never knew where the extra ponies came from. I never heard if
they used this piece to the end of Conti production in 02 or if it was unique to 99's.
Just thought I'd keep this bit of trivia alive.

If your motor is over 100k miles maybe you want to swap it before putting a supercharger on anyway. :p

Dennis Reinhart makes a kit for a marauder that I'm pretty sure would fit a mark 8 frame and if not he knows the size of mark 8s and what to make.

either motor I wouldn't go over 380rwhp/8psi but thats just me.

It depends what type of Super Charger you want to go with. I am using the KB Twin Screw and that intake is a KB unit due to the inboard inter cooler. There are also other Twin Screw manufactures as well (Trilogy, & Whipple). Then you can also look at the centrifical types and with them you can more less use the Gen ll manifolds as the due the external inter coolers (See Mike's neat setup). Tere is even the option of using the Eaton units as well. Depends what you want to obtain and what you are willing to spend to get there.

I have a natural bias towards centris :D it actually improved my fuel economy and blew away an Evo (0-60 in 4.7 i think?). Takes about a week to put in if you buy a kit for the car.

You have to take the nose off to put in the intercooler and take off the upper intake to put in the injectors on the passanger side...You'd also need a new fan and radiator to fit

it would be good to get a j-mod done and a fuel pressure/wide band af meter when you boost your car. I hope you do it ;)
