Radar Detector thoughts...

My heart is set on the Valentine One with remote mounting behind grill, but was wondering what you other guys are running. The one sunny day i take out the Lincoln for a cruise and to round out the tires from the flat spots from sitting so long in the garage, i get a 175.00 speeding ticket.

I'm wondering if the Valentine One is still the very best radar detector you can purchase these days. Looks are unimportant to me as i am mounting it inside the dash with the LED bars in the speedometer bucket.
Techies that keep up with the magizine tests please chime in your thoughts.
 
AFAIK the V1 is still the best and the passport 8500 is second.

But I haven't looked into detectors in a long time. I have a cheap old detector in my navigator, but i hardly ever speed anymore. The navi ain't a sports car.
 
The higher up the sensor (detector), the better. For IR (laser) detection, it must not be looking from under glass.
 
IMHO, the Valentine 1 is the best in the business. At the price of tickets and insurance premiums, it is comparably cheap insurance.

I have mine in my daily driver Harley F150 mounted high next to the rearview mirror and the remote display down in front of the speedo guage. I have a Whistler in the Blue Flame which I sometimes take out and replace with the V1 for road trips.
 
I removed the lead offa my right foot about 4 years ago....it's still working and hasn't grown back. price was right too.....
