Radio wiring

So I installed a new radio in my 94, I couldn't figure out the other aftermarket one that was in it.

This is a new Jenson, it came with a 94 wiring harness plug, I had to cut and splice the other speaker wires.

Everything works, but it's way too tinny, not enough bass, or loudness.

There was one wire that didn't have a partner, a blue with white stripe, is this the Amp wire?

The Jenson also has 6 rca plugs on the back, 2 are SUB out, FR, RL, RR, FL, not sure these were important though

Anyone have a radio wiring diagram, JBL system?

I knew I had one in my archives but couldn't remember the year.

Not sure if that helps. Billcu may have a diagram.

I think you're 100% with that blue/white wire. I feel like all of the Marks had a factory amplifier. I know on my '97, that wire was critical for the amp turn-on.

Luckily, if you're using an aftermarket harness, the color codes will be uniform. If the new stereo doesn't have the blue/white "amp turn on" wire but the harness adapter does, you can tie that to the red "switched ignition" wire. It means your factory amp will be powered up any time your car is, rather than only when the stereo is on, but it sounds like that may be required with the stereo that you have..

I'm glad you showed the speaker side of the drawing JP, mine is all marked up, I think I found some wrong color labels on some of those wires. Here's the left side of that drawing, this shows the JBL system with 10 disc record changer so if your system is different, let me know ,the diagrams are different for the other options.IMG_5889 (Large).JPG

Yeah, I've run across errors in the EVTM diagrams before. Not surprisingly since the manuals were put together before the cars were.

Regardless, I don't see a blue wire with a white stripe?

I concur it is likely a power-on circuit for the amp, but could it be an illumination power wire? I know I've made that mistake before when I discovered the amp wouldn't power up unless the dash lamps were fully illuminated and not 'dimmed'. :giggle:
