Last week I finally got around to replacing the rear upper shock mount bushings. The thud/thumping when going over bumps was driving me nuts. Anyway, I installed them, everything went smooth, shocks were dry ( no obvious leaks ), I even looked at the sway bar end links to make sure they werent rotten and cracked. They were not, the underside of this car is REALLY clean! Got it all together and the car is much quieter, but still has a noticable thud/thumping on bumps. What else will cause it? Possibly sway bar bushings? Its driving me nuts and I was sure the shock bushing kit would fix it. Its the same noise just less of it. Ideas?????????

Possible broken sway bar? Sway bar links/bushings can also appear good when inspecting the car on a lift or jacks and jackstands, when in reality they need replaced.

Also, the mount on the back of the differential case goes bad too. Since I've installed 4.10's, and I have about 8500 miles on them, I've gone through two, but the first one I went through in a week or two..the other one a month later.

I replaced the shock mounts when I got my '93 MK VIII ! ! ! But , I had a persistent noise from under the car ! ! ! It sounded as if the exhaust system was hitting the floor ! ! ! With the car on a lift , I could see no problem with the exhaust system hitting the floor ! ! ! I replace the shocks , which appeared to be OK , with Monroe Sensi-tracs ! ! ! PROBLEM SOLVED , to my surprise ! ! !

With the car on a lift , I could see no problem with the exhaust system hitting the floor ! ! ! I replace the shocks , which appeared to be OK , with Monroe Sensi-tracs ! ! ! PROBLEM SOLVED , to my surprise ! ! !
