Rear shocks

Help!
I think I posted in the wrong place, but I have the car up on the jacks and have the old shock out. I got out the Arnott replacement shocks and find that the hole in the top shaft is empty, and there is no brass thingy to attach the electronic gizzmo at the top. I find a little brass thing in the top of the shaft of the old one, but not on the replacements. What do I do, Is the electronic thing not necessary, or do I have to buy Ford replacements to get this device to work??????? I am at a loss, and need some help.

To the moderators, please remove my wrong post in general discussion if necessary.

RE: Rear shocks

Yep. The OEM shocks have a ride control valve up there. It looks like a valve core in a tire. Aftermarket have "preset" ride control.

RE: Rear shocks

Well.........

I went ahead and put the old one back in, as the new ones were in question and the rain is coming. Anyway, thank you for the heads-up, and would you mind so much transfering the other thread in "general discussion" over to here.

I will try to get some OEM from 5-Star on Monday, as I have a running bill with Max anyway. I am also trying to replace the outside heated electrochromic mirror. On the shocks, I was wondering what the impact of having the aftermarket ones on the car in the future might do to the overall value of the car. I have spent an inordinate amount of money to keep the car "stone cold stock" and was wondering if anybody might have some input to this thing with the shocks. Also are the electronics affected if the unit isn't part of the circuit anymore, or do you have to reset the computer if you leave it out of the circuit? Lots of questions here, but I think you see where I am going. I love the car so much "stock" that I bought a whole new set of lights last year, as mine were losing their mounting studs, due to the Arizona heat. I am so impressed with the ride and handling with my "Mobility Scooter" always in the trunk, that I was really curious if it might not work the same with the non adjustable shocks. You might not remember me, as I have been off the forum for some time, but this car cruises at between 80 and 110 all the time, and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the way it handles at speed. I thank you for your quick response, and I look forward to any input from y'all.
