Replace carpet in Trunk of a Mark?

I am buying a 1993 mark VIII in about a week or so. The mark i am getting has no carpet in the trunk, it has been stripped clean. Should i go to a recycler and get used carpet from another mark viii? I would rather have new carpet but i dont have a lot of experience with carpeting a car. I would like it to be as cheap as possible but the carpet needs to look it belongs in there and not just thrown together. Another question, do most people use sound deadener in the trunk when they put sub woofers in? I plan on getting 2 10" eventually.

I doubt a new carpet is still available - would probably be mighty expensive too! I would get a used one. BTW, no experience necessary! Carpet is a one piece molded affair with sound deadener attached to its rear - takes 10 mins to fit. Do you have the other stuff for the trunk like the cardboard liner, plastic retainer clips and cargo net and retainer knobs? You may want to get those things too!

Thanks for the advice. No the trunk does not have anything in it. I don't know why someone would strip the trunk of a car. Maybe he had stereo equipment in there. I guess im going to have to search the junk yards for a replacement unless someone knows where i can get new carpet or has another way to carpet the trunk.

If you can't find what you need locally, you could try forum member jamie98lsc for alot of the stuff (be used parts though) - Is the plastic amp tray and the accessories that go on it missing too? (should be located on trunk roof, below rear shelf) Last time i saw Jamie, he had all of those things, so you should be ok for getting most of the parts you need.

Also, for new Ford stuff at really good prices you could try Max at Five Star Ford. Very helpful guy - if a new OEM carpet exists, he'll find it!

Water leak?

I guess its possible but the rest of the car is in great shape and the trunk did not have a mildew smell.

I am not sure if the plastic tray is there no not, i will have to look. I sent jamie98lsc a message about it a few days ago but he has not responded. He did give me a good price for a used compressor though.
