I am an idiot. I pre-heated the oven to 400 degrees, turned it off, let the light sit for 10 minutes. When it came out, the lens pryed halfway off before the glue cooled down again.
So, I baked for another 10 minutes. This time the lens came off, but it was soft and it warped from the screwdriver prying it.
I sanded down the lens and it came out clear. Then, I decided to try and polish the chrome in the housing with Windex. BIG MISTAKE!!! The relective chrome came right off, revealing the white plastic underneath.
In a panic, I ran to K-Mart and picked up Dupli-Color Chrome enamel. I got home and "re-chrome" the interior of the light. Crap. The paint comes out as a dull silver, not a reflective chrome like the original.
I decided I had enough and tried to put the lens back on. Well, since it was warped, it wouldn't fit. I had to saw the edged of the lens with a dremel cut-off wheel to make it fit. Then I had to apply large amounts of epoxy to seal it and fill in the gaps of the poor fit.
All in all, I have a clear lens, but a dull silver "reflective" backing. I put the light back on and it's still crap. A bit worse than the other one due to it's non-reflective backing.
Anyone know where I can get cheap, new headlights? I think I am going to install some driving lights either behind the grill or in the bumper. Any suggestions?
